Wacky Dust: What Happens on a Train

It’s 1946, and you’re aboard Santa Fe Railway’s all-Pullman Super Chief, leaving
Chicago for Los Angeles. What a cast of characters boarded with you! Walt Disney
dreams of a park like no other that he can’t afford to build. Singer Nat Cole has fallen in
love—but not with his wife. Meyer Lansky, known as Brains of the Mob, is off to learn
whether Bugsy Siegel is ripping him off in Las Vegas. Liz Taylor, 14 but growing up fast,
longs to escape the imprisonments of MGM’s studio. A wealthy woman discovers a
jewel thief is tailing her. Father John frets that the Jesuit Order isn’t letting him walk in
the footsteps of Jesus, while a just-widowed man wonders if life is any longer worth
living. All these people and others will come to terms with their problems on this 39-
hour, 45-minute journey across the American West.
