A Walk Away

How would you choose to live knowing you were going to die?

Fiercely independent throughout her adult life, at age 67, Lil responds to her unexpected diagnosis with two decisions: To die with dignity and to embark on one final adventure. Accompanied by her devoted husband, Russell, her estranged daughter, Sophie, and her grandson, Luke, Lil sets off for the Tour du Mont Blanc, a walking trek through the mountains and villages of France, Italy, and Switzerland.

A keeper of secrets, Lil does not reveal her illness to her daughter and grandson. Nor does she disclose the full details of her plan to her husband. She also remains silent on why she selected this destination, a place she first visited long ago. Sophie and Luke carry secrets of their own, involving the death of Luke's father eighteen months ago.

One evening on the Tour, Lil must confront her past after a conteuse, a resident storyteller, recounts the fateful love of La Belle Elizabetta. As the miles pass, each family member wrestles with their unspoken truths and the cost of silence. "After every great adventure," Lil tells her reluctant grandson, "you take something with you and you leave a little something behind."

Join this family on their final journey of love and reconnection just a walk away.
