A Walk in the Garden

Filled with simple verse and proverbs, A Walk in the Garden shares with the reader the joys of nature. Bright colored pencil illustrations accompany the inspirational words of many authors, including John Keats, William Wordsworth and William Shakespeare.

Creating these books has truly been a family project, particularly with A Walk in the Garden, the second in the Harvard Ranch series. This volume is special because it also includes the artistic talents of Amy Reinhold Mosher. Amy is an avid gardener and conservationist, and found a deep connection with the text and illustrations.

My mother, inspired during an outing with a visually impaired friend, came up with the idea for this series of books. My parents, Kathy and Paul Reinhold, have often tackled difficult humanitarian and conservation projects. Designing and publishing a series of books was something entirely new for them. That is where my husband, Bill, and I stepped into the picture. As graphic designers, we were the next link in the chain connecting inspiration and creation. The result is this series of books.

When we're not working at the ranch, or in the studio in Montana, Bill and I have been running our graphic design business from an old motorhome complete with a portable computer, scanner and printer. Many of the photos in "Hymns" and "Verses" were taken during our journeys on the road. With two small boys and two big dogs, life is always full of unexpected surprises.
