A Walk Through the New Testament: An Introduction for Catholics

A Walk Through the New Testament, written by best selling author Margaret Nutting Ralph, is designed to be a companion for adult Catholics who want to read and better understand the New Testament. The author marshals her extensive knowledge of both scripture and adult education to gear this introduction to the interested, but, as yet, not well informed Catholic who wants to understand the original biblical author’s intent as well as to hear scripture as a living word that can cut to the marrow of the bone. For each book of the New Testament Ralph provides: • The setting of the author and the audience • A discussion of issues important from both an interpretive and a pastoral point of view • Review questions for Bible study • Discussion questions for faith sharing Using the contextualist approach to scripture taught by the Catholic Church, Ralph guides her readers on a journey that avoids a literalist, fundamentalist interpretation of scripture and, at the same time, encourages readers to apply the truths taught to their own lives. A Walk Through the New Testament is the next best thing to having Jesus explain the scriptures to you on the road to Emmaus. Margaret Nutting Ralph, Ph.D. has forty years experience teaching Scripture. For thirty of those years she worked for the Dioceses of Covington, and then Lexington, KY, as consultant for Adult Education, Director of RCIA and Evangelization, and, for sixteen years, as Secretary of Educational Ministries. Dr. Ralph is the author of twelve books on Scripture, including the best seller, And God Said What? and the series Breaking Open the Lectionary for Cycles A, B, and C. †
