As if it were a matter of course a young boy stooped near the body and picked up Jefro's gun and walked quickly away, not even looking towards the room. A bleachy smell of ozone lingered in the room. He watched E get to his feet, his head stopping only a few inches shy of the ceiling and the whites of his eyes rolling huge. "You ain't even gon' tell me what just happened then." About the Author

Was talking with a woman friend and asked her what happened to her husband. She said he'd disappeared and that it wasn't really surprising because she'd only just learned that all his so-called business trips the past years had been flights overseas to kill people. Took me a second to realize she wasn't kidding, and then the hair went up on my neck because I could see just such a person in my mind and was already calling him John Widdy: not like James Bond at all but apparently just an ordinary guy who comes in one day to find his girlfriend shot. For he hasn't just been running a video store these past years, and today will be the day he finds out that our actions all come back to us, for good or ill. And I knew his story would be called Walk, Don't Run.
