By: Bernard Mavritte
Ever since human beings have known how to build structures with walls, a ceiling and some kind of roof, the walls within those structures have witnessed so much. If they were animate objects, with eyes, a mouth and ears, they could say so much that could not be constrained within all the books upon the earth. Those walls have witnessed the good, the bad, the joys, and the sorrows. They have seen things that those who live within the parameter of the walls would love to share with others, and yet many occurrences that should never be revealed, the deep secrets of our lives we are ashamed to reveal to others. From our entrance on this earth, until we depart, the walls have seen it all.
In this autobiography memoir, Bernard Mavritte reveals the good and the bad, the joys and the sorrows in his own life, a story that is full of life itself. He shares how God has opened so many doors for him, bringing him through his many trials. If the walls in his life could talk, some of them would need to be silenced, but some would need to speak loudly.
About the Author
Bernard Mavritte was born in Washington, D.C. where he received his education in the public schools. He is a graduate from the Howard University School of Music, where he majored in Music Education and vocal studies. He is considered a "Singer's Singer," one who other singers hold in high esteem. For almost thirty years, he taught Vocal Music in the public schools of The District of Columbia.
Growing up in the Baptist church, Mavritte developed a great love for the music of the church. Since the age of twelve, he has worked with choirs in the church. He has composed well over three hundred pieces of music which include anthems, hymns, gospel music, patriotic songs, ballads, numerous instrumental compositions, and musical shows. Mavritte served as the Assistant Musical Director for James Baldwin's play, The Amen Corner, touring fourteen European countries in 1965. He also was the Choral Musical Director for the Tony Award winning play, The Great White Hope.
For one year, Mavritte had his own program on one of Washington's leading radio stations. He is one of the featured performers on The Washington Performing Arts Concert Series. As a singer, he has performed at many of the top venues, including the famous Blues Alley where some of the greatest in Music have performed. He has had the privilege to have performed for two of the Presidents of The United States of America. In this new autobiography memoir, Mavritte shares many of the things that have happened in his life from his birth until the present day.
