In Warm Blood (Color Edition: Prison & Privilege, Hurt & Heart

*In Warm Blood* is an intense and redemptive journey into the best of the human condition. Two people, separated by culture and conditions, discover each other and themselves through a series of letters. Their journey is a revelatory experience through which each discovers that, beyond our superficial stereotypes, one can find inspiration and hope even in the most distressing and deadening environments. --Thomas Corbett, Ph.D., Associate Director (Ret.) Institute for Research on Poverty, University of Wisconsin-Madison

*In Warm Blood* is an in-depth exploration of worlds that could not be more different by race and class. And yet there are clear connections. It is unflinching as the authors face what we so often refuse to see. It plumbs the depths, even with brave humor, of our correctional system and all the lost talent, unrealized potential that results from our blindness and numbness and disinterest in knowing. We owe the authors a great debt. --Carol Lobes, Former Director of Dane County Human Services, Madison, WI

This is a compelling and often unnerving literary dialogue highlighting separations of class, race, education, opportunity, and gender. It should be a wake-up call to our prison systems which fail everyone especially those whom we are quick to sentence, unwilling to treat or rehabilitate. You will no longer wonder why we have such a high rate of recidivism and why those whom we incarcerate are, upon their release, meaner and more violent than when we first sentenced them. It is also a compelling argument as to why we must work upstream to solve the conditions that hurt us all. --The Rev. David C. Couper, Former Chief of Police,Madison, WI. Author of Arrested Development: A Veteran Police Chief Sounds Off About Protest, Racism, Corruption and the Seven Steps Necessary to Improve Our Nation s Police
