Warman's Furniture

Describes and lists current values for American, regional, vernacular, and European furniture, and offers advice on identifying specific pieces

Described as "the first general guide to include American, English, and Continental furniture in a single volume," this far-ranging work covers pieces from the primitive to the highly formal. The book follows both a chronological and a period design approach, with each category featuring a brief history, collecting hints, and reproduction or repair information. Also included are detailed descriptions of each piece, with prices gleaned from 44 major auction houses. The illustrations are only in black and white. Highly recommended. For an overview of furniture price guides, see "Great Finds for Your Collectibles Shelf," p. 45-48.
