This 6.25 x 9.375 inch, 655 page hardcover book with dust wrapper is the stated third printing of the 1965 first edition by Simon and Schuster. The book is in fine condition . . . with virtually no time or handling wear showing to the soft brown cloth covers with black and gilt decoration and titling. The corners are virtually As New, the endpapers show different maps of Africa, and the text pages are fine . . . including numerous black-and-white photos and maps. The dust wrapper is in very good condition, fully intact . . . with definite wear showing to the top and bottom edges . . . with four one-inch closed tears and several smaller missing pieces top and bottom. Someone ran a strip of clear tape along the top outside of the dust wrapper to reinforce and protect several small tears there. The price of $12.00 is unclipped on the front flap and a previous owner?s stamped name shown on the ffep. The book cover shows the story of the confrontation between Europeans and . . . the Zulu Nation under the great ruler Shaka . . . and in the Zulu War of 1879. 655 pages.
