Synopsis:

Washingtons Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior in Company and Conversation is a book that was first published in 1888 and is a compilation of rules that were written by George Washington when he was a teenager. The book contains a total of 110 rules that provide guidance on how to behave in social situations and how to interact with others in a polite and respectful manner. The rules cover a wide range of topics, including table manners, conversation etiquette, and how to behave in the presence of others. The book is a fascinating glimpse into the mind of one of Americas founding fathers and provides insight into the values and beliefs that shaped his character. The rules are presented in their original form, with some modernization of the language to make them more accessible to contemporary readers. Overall, Washingtons Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior in Company and Conversation is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of American manners and etiquette, as well as those looking to improve their own social skills and behavior. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.

About the Author: George Washington was born in Virginia in 1732. As a young man, he learned the morals, manners, and knowledge necessary to become a Virginia gentleman. He was particularly interested in the military arts and western expansion. At the age of 16, he helped survey Shenandoah lands. At the age of 22, he was commissioned a lieutenant colonel and fought in the first battles of what became the French and Indian War. Unanimously elected as the first President of the United States, Washington served two terms before retiring to Mount Vernon. He passed away on December 14, 1799.
