Synopsis
For Jake, Ellie and Doughnut, orphans living on the streets of Sanctum, every single day is a risk, every single day a constant struggle to find food, warmth and shelter. But there’s another threat that lies in the mist beyond the Great Wall, shadows in the distance…the threat of teeth and claws. The Wastelanders are gathering. They have been for a long time... and they are hungry. When Sanctum’s Leader declares a fight back against the threat from outside a chain of events is set in motion – events that threaten not only the lives of Jake, Ellie and Doughnut, but the very existence of Sanctum itself. What would you do if everything you knew was wrong and how far would you go to save the ones you love? Would you face your darkest fears? Would you face - The Wastelanders?
About the Author
Nicholas Grey was born in Margate, Kent to a happy, loving family. Living minutes away from the beach he spent way too much time as a child messing around in the sand with his friends and looking out towards the horizon, day dreaming. At school, he worked a series of jobs at Dreamland Amusement Park with some of his school friends and along the way learnt a great deal about what makes the great British public tick, and how crazy some people can get at the prospect of winning a cuddly, stuffed animal. For University, he headed to Lancaster where he read English and History and tried very hard to turn up on time for his lectures. Graduating at the age of 20, feeling way too young for a real job, Nicholas decided he had to travel the world. Knowing he needed some way to make money he qualified as an English language teacher and took his first teaching post in Tokyo, Japan. After a wonderful year in the Far East he took up a new position in Paris, France. In between jobs he also spent time backpacking around Asia and Europe, dreaming of becoming a great writer but never actually finding the time to do anything about it. Upon returning to England, penniless but experienced, Nicholas began to settle down into a great teaching job in Canterbury, Kent, where he met his beautiful photographer girlfriend Katy. It was with her encouragement that he found the elusive discipline to stop talking about wanting to be an author and actually sit down and create some stories. In 2012, after sending off hundreds of letters to agents and publishers he was signed to the Luigi Bonomi Literary Agency where he was given valuable advice and guidance about structuring and editing a story. A year later after having lots of attention from publishers but no contract offers, this is where (hopefully) the story gets interesting. He decided to independently publish. In the spirit of such adventure The Wastelanders will be debuting on Amazon in the spring of 2015, closely followed by his second novel, The Lightbearer. Nicholas hopes you enjoy reading them and that if you also dream of one day putting pen to paper, you won’t let anything or anyone stop you.
