New condition navy blue boards with gold spine lettering, contained in a new condition color photographic dust jacket. Includes Preface and Index. Illustrated with black-and-white photographs. "Memoirs call tell all or tell nothing. And while some memoirs recite successes, honest memoirs often chronicle setbacks, frustrations, and failures. For Peter J. Solomon, documenting his successes as well as his failures was a way to show us how a perseverance to achieve is paramount in life, and that family, friends, health, a sense of humor, and luck are powerful allies. Peter J. Solomon's Wasting Time Constructively is much more than a memoir. It is a fascinating collection of stories about his life complete with insightful business tips, riveting accounts of bygone eras, a constant willingness to learn and candid descriptions of failures as well as successes. Solomon not only shares memories about his business career and his political involvement; he also details a uniquely engaging journey built on his family's roots, his passions, and his quest for a balanced life. Wasting Time Constructively is told with vivid and compelling prose, creating an emotional bond between the reader and Peter. His voice drives the story, and his incredible experiences and the vignettes about famous people will keep you engaged." - from the inner front jacket flap. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Peter J. Solomon grew up in New York City, graduated from the Lawrenceville School, and received a bachelor's degree cum laude from Harvard and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He joined Lehman Brothers in 1963, became a managing director in 1971, and was elected to the board in 1975. After working as the deputy mayor for economic policy and development under Mayor Edward Koch, also serving as chairman of the New York City Health and Hospital Corporation, in 1980 Solomon was appointed by President Jimmy Carter as counselor to the secretary of the treasury; he later returned to Lehman Brothers and remained at its successor, Shearson Lehman, until 1989. He left Shearson Lehman to found the Peter J. Solomon Company, one of the first independent investment banks. Mr. Solomon is married to the former Susan Rebell, and they have five children and twelve grandchildren." - from the rear jacket flap.…

Store description
Vero Beach Books is an antiquarian bookseller with a constantly updated inventory of rare out-of-print books, signed books, children's books, plus a large inventory of ephemeral items such as major U.S. city newspapers going back 100 years and more, golden and silver age fine condition comic books (soon to be added), and many other ephemeral items as well as much more recent popular volumes. We have been in business for 25 years, originally known as Emerson Books (named after one of our owner's favorite authors, to wit, Ralph Waldo Emerson) located back then in Westport, Connecticut. That said, we are here to serve you, to offer you fine quality items that are conservatively described so that you will always be pleasantly surprised and delighted with your purchase. Twenty-five years in the bookselling business has borne out our stellar service oriented reputation; the only difference is that now we are located in the almost always sunny and warm climate of Vero Beach, Florida. Again, we are here to serve you and, as was the case when we were previously known on ABEBooks.com as Emerson Books, we will continue to offer our very popular 100% free search service for those hard to find books rare and out of print books. Oftentimes we are also able to obtain these rare finds at very good discounts to our customers' so it is always worth contacting us in such cases!
