Item description from seller

11th edition, later impression. 496pp, with over 400 illustrations in text. Faux leather-covered boards with gilt-stamped lettering front and spine. 8vo. Covers are square, crisp and sharp-cornered. Text block edges a little dust dulled. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Glossy, illustrated dust jacket, not price clipped, slightly shelf worn and just a tad bumped on extreme edges. Britten's handbook ran to no less than 15 editions between its first publication in 1881 and 1995 was long out of print but it remains the classic on the topic: the definitions, illustrations, tools and processes described are timeless and indispensable. This volume is a reprint of the 11th edition, considered the best balance between being comprehensive and yet true to the original - some sections were left out of later editons.
