Watch Us Play: A practical guide to managing your child's game time and improving their maths skills

Frustrated at the arguments and tantrums when you ask your child to put a device down?

Worried that the online world is a minefield and that there are dangers around every corner?

Want to create a more peaceful home and a more positive environment and relationship with your child around tech?

Watch Us Play walks you through proven strategies used by parents and child psychologists from around the world for managing screen time and safety.

It also explores

• why children love playing videogames
• how to understand what they are doing on devices and the games they play
• how to build a stronger relationship with them around gaming and devices
• how to use videogames to improve the maths skills of children aged 6-11 years old
• how the age ratings work for games
• myths about videogames and violence

The second half of the book focuses on maths and introduces the PARROT framework - a method for using key features found in videogames and using them to create maths questions children will recognise and engage with. It also includes example maths questions based on popular games like Minecraft, Roblox, FIFA and Fortnite and a 5 step method parents can use for improving the maths skills of their child in as little as 15 minutes per day.

Watch Us Play will help you go from a place of frustration and the negatives of videogames and devices to a place where you can use that same screen time to support positives like learning and skill development in your child.

Here's what one parent has said about it;

Reading this book turned me 180 degrees around about video games. Philip helped me understand why children of today are so drawn to video games what to look out for other than just the amount of time my children spend on their iPads. Thank you Philip for bridging that gap between generations, this book helped me immensely to connect with children at a deeper lever through understanding the games they are playing. Highly recommending this book to anyone around children be it through their professions or their family lives.
