Watercolors Step-By-Step

Thanks to overwhelmingly positive responses to the demonstrations in my first book “Mastering Watercolors – a practical guide,” I’ve created this 124-page manual of how-to demos.

Here you’ll find twelve new step-by-step paintings with reference photos and plenty of images to guide you through each piece. I’ve also included a section on watercolor basics and materials.

An additional chapter covers what to consider when working from photographs.

An ideal follow-on from “Mastering Watercolors – a practical guide,” this book is especially suited to people who can’t attend regular classes with a professional tutor. Watercolor is wonderful and challenging medium which, like most creative pursuits, develops with regular practice.

Happy painting! Joe Cartwright

Joe Cartwright has been painting with watercolors for nearly twenty years. Fourteen years ago he left a 30 year career in marketing to follow his passion of watercolor painting. For most of this time he has taught watercolor, both in classes and workshops, and gets a special thrill at seeing his students progress in this magical medium. It was his experience with his students, learning to answer their many and varied questions in as simple a way as possible that caused him to produce his first book "Mastering Watercolors - a practical guide." His second book, "Watercolour Step-By-Step," includes 12 detailed demonstrations, ideally suited to anyone who has purchased his first book and would like to further develop this watercolor painting. The step by step approach is especially useful to students who cannot attend regular art classes.
