Howard Back fought in World War I and went on to become a successful businessman, world traveler, and art collector. In 1922 he accompanied Howard Carter on the expedition that found Tutankhamen’s tomb. He emigrated to the United States in 1930 where he eventually opened a fine arts and antiques business.
