Watershed Planning and Management examines the science, technology, and practice of managing land and water resources through the watershed approach. It integrates hydrology, geomorphology, soil and water conservation, land use planning, socio-economic considerations, and modern tools such as remote sensing and geographic information system (GIS). This book presents an overview of global water resources and their diverse uses, followed by fundamental concepts of watersheds, hydrological cycles, and delineation methods. With a balance of theory, methodology, and practice, this book serves as a valuable resource for students, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers. It not only strengthens conceptual understanding but also provides practical insights into implementing watershed projects in diverse regions.

Dr. Sabah Parvaze is serving as an Assistant Professor‑cum‑Junior Scientist in the Division of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, SKUASTKashmir. She holds a B.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering (SKUAST‑Kashmir, 2014, Gold Medalist), an M.Tech. in Hydrology (IIT Roorkee, 2016, Gold Medalist and Kathpalia Awardee), and a Ph.D. in Soil and Water Engineering (SKUAST‑Kashmir, 2021, Gold Medalist). She specializes in flood forecasting, hydrological and hydraulic modeling, drought assessment, water quality management, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)‑based applications in agriculture and water resources. Her doctoral research focused on developing a real‑time flood forecasting system for the Jhelum Basin using advanced hydrological models. She has professional experience as a Senior Water Resources Engineer at RMSI Pvt. Ltd., where she integrated AI, GIS, and hydrological models for flood risk, drought resilience, and water distribution. Currently, she has made significant contributions to sustainable mountain development, particularly in the Himalayan region, by modeling glacial‑fed river systems, assessing climate change impacts, and developing decision support systems for climate‑resilient water resource planning. She has been actively engaged in capacity‑building programs, workshops, and field‑level interventions to promote climate‑smart agriculture and water management in fragile mountain ecosystems. Her academic contributions include 25+ research publications, technical reports, and project proposals.
