In half dark brown morocco leather with marbled paper covered boards, five gilt raised bands, gilt decorated compartments and gilt titles. Rubbed and worn to the leather. Yellow end papers and gilt page edges.

All volumes extensively illustrated. All solid with good joints and hinges, pages tanned with minor foxing. Illustrated throughout in the text and with full page plates on thicker paper.
