The Way Home: Search For Meaning: A Guide For Those Entering The Catholic Faith

The Way Home: Phase One — Search for Meaning is the opening volume of a Catholic formation series designed for adults at the very beginning of their journey into faith. Written for seekers, skeptics, and the spiritually curious, it meets the reader at the level of real human experience—questions about meaning, truth, suffering, purpose, and the possibility of God—and engages them with clarity, depth, and intellectual honesty.

This volume does not presume belief. Instead, it carefully guides the reader through the foundational questions that must be faced before faith can take root: Can we know truth? Is life ordered toward meaning or randomness? Who is Jesus Christ, and can His claims be trusted? Why does the Church exist, and what authority does it claim? Moving from the universal human search for meaning to the concrete claims of Christianity, Search for Meaning leads the reader toward a reasoned and compelling encounter with Christ and His Church.

Structured to correspond with the Inquiry Phase of initiation, the book is both accessible and substantial—clear enough for those with no religious background, yet rigorous enough to satisfy serious intellectual engagement. It avoids both superficial answers and abstract theology, instead presenting the Catholic vision as a coherent and transformative account of reality, grounded in reason, history, and lived experience.

Ideal for parish use, small groups, and individual reading, this volume provides a much-needed resource for those who are not yet ready for doctrinal instruction but are ready to begin asking deeper questions. It equips catechists and clergy with a framework for guiding inquirers, while also standing alone as a compelling introduction to the Catholic faith for modern readers.

More than an introduction, Search for Meaning is an invitation—to move beyond uncertainty, to confront the possibility of truth, and to begin the journey home.
