The Way of Life, Set Forth in Several Sermons, Preached Before Her Majesty the Queen Dowager

The Way Of Life, Set Forth In Several Sermons, Preached Before Her Majesty The Queen Dowager by John Johnstone is a 19th-century religious work. The volume collects sermons delivered in London in 1841 under the patronage of Adelaide, the Queen Dowager. Across the sermons, Johnstone exhorts readers to look to Jesus as the source of faith, salvation, and spiritual life, foregrounding the themes of looking unto Jesus, the preciousness and loveliness of Christ, and the necessity of justification by faith. The collection develops a thorough gospel pedagogy: justification by faith apart from works, the indwelling work of the Holy Spirit, and the believer’s growth in grace through union with Christ. With pastoral exhortation and doctrinal clarity, the author invites personal repentance, humility, and holy living, all grounded in the sufficiency of Christ’s redemptive work and the Spirit’s renewing power. The work thus presents a comprehensive portrait of evangelical Christian living centered on Jesus Christ.
