The Way of Perfection is a spiritual guidebook written by F. Benedict Zimmerman. The book offers a detailed exploration of Christian spirituality, with a focus on the practice of prayer and meditation. Zimmerman draws on his own experiences as a monk to provide readers with practical advice on how to deepen their relationship with God and live a more fulfilling life. The book is divided into several chapters, each of which explores a different aspect of Christian spirituality. Topics covered include the importance of humility, the role of the Holy Spirit in prayer, and the benefits of living a life of simplicity and detachment. Zimmerman also provides guidance on how to overcome common obstacles to spiritual growth, such as distractions and temptations.Throughout the book, Zimmerman emphasizes the importance of cultivating a personal relationship with God through prayer and contemplation. He encourages readers to develop a regular prayer practice and to seek out opportunities for spiritual growth, such as retreats and spiritual direction.Overall, The Way of Perfection is a comprehensive guide to Christian spirituality that offers practical advice and inspiration to readers seeking to deepen their faith and live a more meaningful life. This work was translated from the autograph of Saint Teresa of Jesus by a Benedictine of Stanbrook with annotation of the variants from the Escorial and Valladolid versions. In this book, St. Teresa first recommends the practice of prayer and meditation which give a taste of that sweetness reserved by God for those who fear Him, rendering them prompt and ready for all the works of virtue. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
