The Way of Perfection is a spiritual guidebook written by F. Benedict Zimmerman. The book is a commentary on the teachings of Saint Teresa of Avila, a Spanish mystic and Carmelite nun. The Way of Perfection provides practical advice on how to live a holy and virtuous life, and how to deepen one's relationship with God. Zimmerman's commentary covers topics such as prayer, humility, detachment, and self-discipline. The book is intended for anyone seeking to grow in their spiritual life, and is particularly suited to those interested in the Carmelite tradition. The Way of Perfection is a classic work of Catholic spirituality, and has been widely read and studied since its publication in 1935.This work was translated from the autograph of Saint Teresa of Jesus by a Benedictine of Stanbrook with annotation of the variants from the Escorial and Valladolid versions. In this book, St. Teresa first recommends the practice of prayer and meditation which give a taste of that sweetness reserved by God for those who fear Him, rendering them prompt and ready for all the works of virtue. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.

She was a reformer of the Carmelite Order and is considered to be a founder of the Discalced Carmelites, along with St. John of the Cross.
