Synopsis
Jean Beyer lives with his lovely wife, Jan Beyer, in her home town of Lexington, Missouri. For many years now, The Lexington News has published Jean’s weekly column, “The Way I See It”, where Jean has shares his wisdom and humor about the journey through life. Behind the scenes, Jean will admit to being a “one-finger” typist, so Jan types the columns and serves as Editor-In-Chief. They make a great team and it has been a labor of love over the years. Regular readers are familiar with how Jean shares his personal failures, foibles and unique observations on life and the human condition. In person, Jean is one of the funniest and most expressive storytellers anyone could ever hope to meet. He is also one of the best cheerleaders ever for the city of Lexington, and has truly made it “home”. For many years, Jean led the Lexington chapter of the American Legion, and remains involved in local projects, such as the annual Patriot’s Day Parade, and placing American Flags all around town on flag days. Jean’s stories tell us about his experiences as a young boy growing up in Kansas City, and his jobs as varied as public school teacher, restauranteur, and salesman. Jean even drove a truck for a day, and then a cab for a day, only to quit both jobs. As only Jean can explain, there were reasons.... Many stories and characters also come from Jean’s military career, from which he retired as a Major in the U.S. Army. Jean has traveled the world and his columns will often include a take on far away places, but a favorite topic is simply how wonderful it is to now live in the small town of Lexington. Laugh along with all of us as you enjoy this latest collection of stories in The Way I See It - Book II. Papillon Publishing
