About this Item
60pp. with 13 plates, some colour, brown cloth spine, light brown paper covers. Contents very good with a bit of edge wear and creasing. Covers are good but have a few stains and some edge wear and creasing. John Weale (1791-1862) was an English publisher of architectural, engineering and educational works. His 'Quarterly Papers on Architecture' was published in 9 parts, of which this is Part 1 (in its second edition published in 1844). It contains articles on diverse subjects such as stained glass in York, the life of Vitruvius Morrison and Norwegian church fittings. Numerous attractive plates feature throughout, including some colour reproductions. The publisher seems to have put the wrong cover on this edition; the front cover states that this is Part 5, but the title page states Part 1. A previous owner has crossed out the number 5 and replaced it with 1, which is correct. A nice early collection of architecture-related articles! Seller Inventory # 3242
