Weaving the Threads: Discovering the Patterns of our Lives: 1922 - 2012

WEAVING THE THREADS is a collection of memory/tales about events that have shaped the lives of sixteen different writers. The tone varies with the subject matter of each piece: humorous, philosophical, elegiac, ironic, etc. This unique collection of short memoirs edited by Enid Baron, Ph.D., and Barbara Gazzolo, M Div, presents vivid narrative snapshots of personal lives that span the 20th and 21st centuries. Each story is like a postcard sent from an exotic autobiographical location - a site that may stand out in memory for the love or the joy experienced there, or for the pain or the terror, for the bittersweet irony, say, or a singular moment of peace, anticipation, or wonder. As the book's title suggests, the authors of these stories 'weave the threads' in order to 'discover the patterns' in their lives. But even when the pattern is ambiguous or the theme remains a mystery, the reader cannot help but admire the beauty of the threads themselves and the power of each episode to evoke the deepest human feelings. -- Dan P.
