A Week with Joshua: The Battle of Jericho (Bible Patterns for Young Readers)

Inspired by Bill Martin Jr.’s friendship and writing, Lee Jenkins wrote the day by day account of Joshua and the historical battle of Jericho. Parents who have read Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom to their children will recognize the influence Bill Martin Jr. had on Lee Jenkins’ writing. The aim of the Bible Patterns for Young Readers series is to make learning to read so joyful and painless that children forget how they learned to read, but the stories so powerful they are remembered for life.

Through the reading of A Week with Joshua: The Battle of Jericho children learn the days of the week, laugh at the Jim Chansler 7 cartoon priests blowing their trumpets, search for the slight change made to Jericho each day, enjoy the around and around and around climaxed by the walls tumbling down, and begin to understand that God has surprising plans for all of us.
