The Weekend Crafter: Basketry: 17 Great Weekend Projects

This fabulous, gorgeously photographed introductory course will have even novices finishing a decorative basket the very first weekend. Basketry master BJ Crawford offers the fruits of her many years' experience, explaining how to add bases, shape baskets, substitute materials, embellish, and more. A wealth of knowledge on reeds covers everything from preparation to dyeing and finishing. From a simple handled market basket to a charming letter basket with twine embellishments, these projects are as beautiful as they are practical.

BJ Crawford opened Earth Guild (www.earthguild.com/), a popular craft material supply store and mail order company in her residence of Asheville, North Carolina, more than 30 years ago. With more than 40 years of basketry experience, she currently works as an active instructor, teaching classes on basket making, weaving, and other traditional and contemporary handcrafts.
