The format is clean and crisp, and the black- and-white line drawings enhance the text. The print is a good size for easy reading, and the index is extensive. A great deal of information is packed into this volume, but it manages to avoid a crowded look. The facts have been compiled from many sources, including the 25 favorite books of American kids' from Booklist and 50 contemporary classics from ALA. Many books of facts and trivia are available, but the subjects in this book are treated just a bit differently. It's the type of book one picks up to leaf through and ends up reading from cover to cover.
