The first year of this Christian, Victorian periodical. Bound in half calf, with gilt lettering to the spine and marble paper-covered boards. Illustrated with numerous black and white engravings. This is the first year of 'The Weekly Visitor'. (Previously, it was 'The Visitor or Monthly Instructer'.) This magazine combined its strong Christian subject-matter with essays on Natural History, Science and Travel. In a half calf binding with marbled paper boards. There is some wear to the extremities including rubbing, bumping on the corners and fading to the marble paper boards. The binding is tight and firm with both covers and all pages securely attached. Internally the pages are generally clean and bright with the odd brown spot or handling mark; this is slightly more pronounced on the endpapers.
