Reviews
This compilation of weight loss information and case studies from several doctors and nutritionists is designed to help readers find "a personal plan that [they] can live with." The text has four parts--"Customize Your Weight Loss Program," "Change Your Lifestyle," "Correct Imbalances," and "Detoxify the Body"--plus an appendix with recipes. This is one of a new type of diet book coming out now, such as Peter D'Adamo's Eat Right for Your Type (LJ 2/1/97) and Julia Ross's The Diet Cure (LJ 6/1/99), that emphasizes tailoring a diet plan to the individual's needs rather than offering a one-diet-fits-all approach. And, like the other titles mentioned, the focus is on improving overall health and energy rather than simply weight loss. The valuable information compiled here will help individuals return their bodies' systems to a healthy "balance," and the suggestions for various alternative therapies--a unique feature of this book--will have a strong appeal to many people. For consumer health collections.
