The Weight of The Wheel- A Project Manager's Imprint

In The Weight of the Wheel, David Baiyeshea reflects on the human experience beneath complex work: the pressures that remain after meetings end, the emotional labour hidden behind professional composure and the gradual way a role can begin to shape a person's identity, relationships and sense of self.

Through the experiences of the load-bearing man, the man who held the room, the man with the second shadow, the man beneath the crown and others formed by demanding work, the book considers what happens when responsibility becomes difficult to put down. It reflects on time, pace, recognition, family, presence, boundaries, uncertainty and the challenge of remaining effective without allowing work to occupy every part of life.

This is not a book about stepping away from responsibility or caring less about meaningful work. It is about learning to carry responsibility with greater wisdom and proportion.

The journey moves from automatically absorbing every pressure towards recognising what should be carried, what can be shared, what needs clearer ownership and what may never have belonged to one person in the first place. It considers how rest, purpose, honesty, delegation and healthier boundaries can strengthen rather than weaken leadership.

Closing the Wheel series, The Weight of the Wheel is written for project managers, programme leaders and anyone who has experienced the unseen personal demands of difficult and consequential work.

Honest, reflective and grounded in lived experience, it asks how we can continue to serve, lead and contribute meaningfully without losing our presence, peace or identity beneath the work.
