This volume was developed by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) in response to the training needs of the construction, maintenance, and pipeline industries. It is one of many in Contren ™ Learning Series,. The program, covering training for close to 40 construction and maintenance areas, and including skills assessments, safety training, and management education, was developed over a period of years by industry and education specialists.

FEATURES OF THIS BOOK
Capitalizing on a well-received campaign to redesign our textbooks, NCCER and Prentice Hall are continuing to publish select textbooks in color. Welding Level One incorporates the new design and layout, along with color photos and illustrations, to present the material in an easy-to-use format. Special pedagogical features augment the technical material to maintain the trainees' interest and foster a deeper appreciation of the trade.
- Think About It uses "What If?" questions to help trainees apply theory to real-world experiences and put ideas into action.
- Hot Tip provides a head start for those entering the trade by highlighting important safety requirements and presenting tricks of the trade from experienced welders.
- Case History examines the costly and often devastating consequences of ignoring safe work practices by citing actual examples from the field.
- Profile in Success shares the experience of and advice from successful tradespersons in the welding field.
We're excited to be able to offer you these improvements and hope they lead to a more rewarding learning experience. As always, your feedback is welcome! Please let us know how we are doing by visiting NCCER at www.nccer.org or email us at info@nccer.org.
