Hard Cover. VG/VG. 1st Such. 24cm By 16cm. Britan's famed commander, the Duke of Wellington, fought a war of almost five years in Spain and Portugal to 1813, against France and its allies. This study examines the Duke's dispatches from that time, covering all aspects of this most difficult campaign. The book is 340 pages, but the selection covers "about one fortieth" of the Dukes actual dispatches, but they reveal much about Wellington's thinking on war and all its ramifications. An excellent addition to literature on this distinguished soldier. 13 drawings of battle sites, 25 maps, erratum strip on mispaged map on title page reverse. Inked gift insc on sub-title, book excellent, art DJ has few chips, creases and two small tears.
