Illustrations and highlighted, boxed texts and charts are particularly praiseworthy. The detailed index gives access to both conventional and controversial topics: from choosing shoes to bottled water. With its preventive medicine and public health point of view, this complements similar sources such as the Mayo Clinic Family Health Book ( LJ 12/90). Highly recommended.
