West Cornwall: The Lizard Guidebook: Helford, Coverack, Kynance, Mullion, Porthleven (Exploring Cornwall & Scilly)

There are few places in Cornwall, or for that matter in Britain, that have such a singular mix of elements as the Lizard. It is recognisably Cornish in the style of its buildings and in its place names, but in its scenery it manages to be both remarkably austere but also, at a smaller scale, riotously exuberant in its rocks and plants. It is this odd combination of bleak and beautiful, of austere and vibrant, that is at the root of many people's strong reaction to the Lizard and why large areas are protected as a national nature reserve. In this book we guide you through the unusual geology and flora of the Lizard. We'll point you to the best places and things to do so you can avoid the hassles, queues and crowds and have more time to walk, explore, relax and enjoy.
