What Shall We Answer? a Plain Address on the Subject of the Romish Invasion

What Shall We Answer? A Plain Address On The Subject Of The Romish Invasion by Disney Robinson is a nineteenth-century Protestant polemic in two parts. The work, issued as a sermon-like tract by an Anglican clergyman, argues that Papal Rome seeks to extend its influence over England through the restoration of a hierarchical structure and the appointment of Roman Catholic bishops. It contends that such actions threaten Protestant liberty, the supremacy of Scripture, and the English monarchy, and it urges Protestants to awaken, understand Popery, and oppose it with scriptural argument. The text surveys Catholic doctrines (as defined in the Creed of Pius IV) including seven sacraments, the Mass and the real presence, penance, extreme unction, purgatory, indulgences, invocation of saints, and relic and image worship, examining them through a Reformation lens. It cites papal bulls and church authorities, contrasts them with Bible teaching, and calls Protestants to defend biblical faith, resist Romanist influence, and uphold the Protestant Reformations as the true heritage of England.
