About the Author
Lawrence D. Goldberg began his career in rare coins in 1981, working for Bowers and Ruddy Galleries in Hollywood, CA. After working as an independent consultant for several other companies, he founded Customized Numismatic Portfolios, Inc. in 1991. He has written and published his thrice-annual Rare Coin Report Newsletter since 2001. He is an authorized dealer for PCGS, NGC, CAC and is an associate member of PNG. Outside of the rare coin industry, he wrote the debt management e-book Balance Transfer Magic, and spearheaded the successful effort to raise money to build a new outdoor stage for the Independent Shakespeare Co. of Los Angeles. In the 1980s he was an active member of the California Libertarian Party and a frequent guest editorialist on KNX news radio. In addition to an active interest in political and economic issues, he follows advances in astronomy and space science, an area of fascination since childhood. He holds a bachelor's degree in literature with minors in drama and political science from Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA, where he graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa. A native of San Francisco, he remains an avid Giant and 49er fan.
