Synopsis

What does a Sailor think about while watching the beauty of the ocean pass by the ship? He thinks of home, the future, what is for dinner, and, "What Was Darwin Thinking?" This book explores those thoughts. I wrote this book in my mind many times while watching wave after wave roll by, looking for sharks or dolphins, or flying fish from the fantails of the fighting ships of the world's greatest Navy. Mixed into these thoughts I have included other stories of my life, mostly Navy experiences. So, set sail in the thoughts of this Sailor and see where the cruise leads us.

About the Author

Keith was born in Odessa, Texas in 1954 the third in a set of triplets. He and his brother Kenneth and sister Karan were the first triplets born in Medical Center Hospital. He and his family lived in several small Texas towns until finally moving to Terrell. They lived in Terrell for nine years until relocating to Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Keith graduated in 1972 from Pagosa Springs High School and enlisted for six years the U. S. Navy as an electronic technician in August of that same year. In 1978, he left the Navy at the end of his enlistment to enroll at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. On July 19, 1978, he married Cherie Barbara Roth in Eaton, Ohio before they moved to Fort Collins. Keith and Cherie have two sons Steven and Tyrel and a daughter Lori. In 1983, he graduated from CSU with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Relations. In November of that year, he reenlisted in the Navy as an active duty Naval Reservist and spent the next seventeen years stationed in a variety of American cities training other Reservists. He progressed through the enlisted ranks to reach Master Chief and retired as Command Master Chief for Naval Reserve Readiness Command Region Eight in Jacksonville, Florida. During his over twenty-three years serving in the Navy, he spent twelve years stationed on board four naval vessels. He and his wife Cherie live in Eaton, Ohio and are retired. They have eight grandchildren and as of last count have seven great-grandchildren.
