What I'm Not

Trevor Porter has always done the right thing.

Husband at nineteen. Father before he was ready. Provider, protector, and now a rising film director with everything he worked for finally within reach. But when his marriage shatters under betrayal, Trevor is forced to confront a truth he’s been avoiding: doing the right thing cost him himself.

Now, he’s left to rebuild… not just his life, but his definition of love.

Aniyah Henderson has already done the hard part.

After losing the one person who made the world feel safe, she’s created a life rooted in peace, purpose, and distance from anything that could break her again.

Until Trevor walks back into her life.

Now her student’s father. Once the boy she knew in grade school. The one who challenged her then and still does now.

What begins as a reconnection grows into something neither of them expected. A steady, undeniable pull. A friendship built on trust, vulnerability, and the quiet understanding of what it means to start over.

But healing isn’t linear.
And love, the real kind, requires more than just showing up. It requires becoming.

What I’m Not is a deeply emotional story about letting go of who you had to be, choosing who you want to become, and finding a love that meets you there
