From the Back Cover
The book is divided into three parts. Part I examines the methods of cross-cultural hermeneutics. Part II represents a dialogue with perennial themes in Chinese culture: Yin and Yang in Genesis and Exodus; the Ming of Tien ("will of God') in Amos and Confucius; the Li and Jen "torah and spirit" in Romans. Part III applies biblical messages to current Chinese situations, including suffering, oppressive acts such as Tienanmen Square, and the role of women.
"K.K. Yeo's uncanny ability to inject Asian wisdom into Western learning equips him to do exciting biblical scholarship. Communal Asian values balancing the Western penchant for individualism call for exegetical skills that only a few can deliver. K.K. Yeo is one of the few." --The Rev. Dr. Yeow Choo-lak, Executive Director, The Association for Theological Education in Southeast Asia
Khiok-Khng Yeo is Assistant Professor of New Testament Interpretation at Garrett-Evangelical Seminary. He formerly taught New Testament and biblical hermeneutics in Hong Kong. He is the author of several books in Chinese and of Rhetorical Interaction in 1 Corinthians 8 and 10: A Formal Analysis with Implications for a Cross-Cultural Chinese Hermeneutic.
