What Pumpkins Dream

Under the watchful eye of his grandfather, a young boy gets to work planting his very first garden—dreaming of the juicy watermelons and plump pumpkins that will soon emerge from the tiny seeds. And with some hard work and plenty of patience, the magic of gardening takes hold, with little fruits and veggies sprouting up right before his eyes. Among the crops is a conscientious pumpkin named Pete, who has plenty of questions about life in the garden—questions like, who are those big, green guys who look like pumpkins, yet different? When he talks to Walter the Watermelon from the other side of the plot, Pete learns the truth about what happens to pumpkins on Halloween, then goes to sleep dreaming of different ways he can escape his fate. As the seasons pass and Pete grows bigger and bigger, he learns some very important lessons about what it means to be a pumpkin, despite his inner conflict. The result is a tale that is told to young pumpkins all over the world about life, the cycles of nature, growth, and courage. I'm a first-time author and a father of three, born and raised in Toronto, Canada. My debut book, What Pumpkins Dream, came to me in a dream that I have been following ever since. As a firm believer in dreams, this idea shapes all the elements of my pumpkin story and continues to inspire me to keep fulfilling my dreams. I hope it will encourage not only my children but other children as well to work toward their dreams. I have shared as much of the book creation process as I can through social media, in order to show others how all the different steps involved along the way work in the new world of publishing. I'm a disrupter by nature and a traditionalist at heart, looking to challenge old notions while still preserving certain elements-Halloween, I'm looking at you!
