She and her husband lived at Mandapam Camp on the east coast of India for nearly four years. Raman is a boy of India. He is the first in his village to learn to read. His father thought it so important that he sent Raman to a nearby village to attend school. But then Raman's father had to leave the village to find work and Raman left school to help earn money. He found work gathering wild plants for a woman who was preparing a book.
