About the Author:
Laura Keisler, Ed.D., is an assistant professor in the department of Literacy and Reading Education at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). Her research and teaching interests include literacy instruction, teacher preparation, and professional development. In addition to teaching, Laura trains teachers nationwide on best practices for literacy instruction. She presents at national conferences, has published articles on a variety of literacy topics, and is the the author of What the Science of Reading Says: Literacy Strategies for Grades 3–5 and What the Science of Reading Says: Literacy Strategies for Secondary Grades. She is the coauthor of Building Academic Language Through Content-Area Text. Laura is a former classroom teacher and literacy coach.
