About this title

Synopsis

Have you ever wondered, when looking out to sea, about the anonymous gray forms passing by. What kind of ship is it? Where is it going? What does it carry? What Ship Is That? - the age-old hail between skippers meeting at sea - will satisfy these curiosities and more.

An instant identification guide, What Ship Is That?, Second Edition points out detailed drawings and descriptions that bring to life nearly 100 types of ships, from aircraft carriers to bulk carriers, harbor tugs to shrimp trawlers, catboats to schooners and every other ship currently plying oceans and waterways. Author Bobby L. Basnight demonstrates the difference between a ship rig and a bark, a brig and a brigantine, and a yawl and a ketch in this fully-illustrated guide that has been fully updated to reflect current changes in navy ships.

Whether you are a boater, coastal resident, or shoreline traveler, What Ship Is That?, Second Edition gives you immediate identification of any boat you'll spot in the distance.
