 When Arms Have to Rest

A gentle story for little ones when Mommy needs time to heal

When Mommy goes through surgery and can't lift, carry, or snuggle like she used to, little hearts can feel confused, sad, or left out. When Arms Have to Rest is a tender, reassuring picture book that helps young children understand what's happening - and reminds them that even when arms have to rest, a mother's love never stops holding them close.

Told with warmth and simplicity, this beautifully illustrated story gently prepares toddlers and preschoolers for a time when Mommy is recovering from surgery or other medical procedures in which she will not be able to pick up and carry her child for a brief time. Through cozy scenes and loving alternatives - like air hugs, hand-holding, and heart smiles - children learn that love can still be shared in special ways.

 Perfect for:

• Ages 1-5
• Moms preparing and recovering from surgery
• Families navigating temporary physical separation or caregiving changes
• Preparing a toddler or preschooler before a caregiver's surgery
• Hospitals, cancer centers, family therapists, or support groups

Inside you'll find:

• A comforting, age-appropriate story
• Soft, inclusive cartoon-style illustrations
• Gentle explanations of why Mommy can't lift or snuggle
• Toddler-friendly ways to show love and stay connected

Whether read at bedtime or snuggled up on the couch (side-by-side, of course!), When Arms Have to Rest is a beautiful way to help children feel loved, included, and safe during one of life's hardest moments.
