When Evil Isn't Enough

Born in Montclair, New Jersey, Philip Hirsh grew up living in what he terms 'a splendid dichotomy,' absorbing urban life in the New York area, and southern mountain culture at his family's isolated Appalachian retreat. Educated at Phillips Academy Andover and Yale University, he decided to go into medicine, and because of his interest in human behavior, specialize in psychiatry. Beyond articles on psychiatry, Dr. Hirsh has written articles on travel, history, and essays for National Public Radio. When Evil Isn't Enough is a fictional compilation of his real-life forensic work exploring the difficulty of predicting human behavior, the ease with which good can transform itself into evil, and the sometimes uncomfortable role of humor in criminal behavior.
