When God Speaks: Exploring the Absurd and Outrageous Commands of God

Has God ever asked you to do something outrageous?

God may not call you to build an ark, sacrifice your child, or give birth to the Savior—but He may ask you to do something way outside your comfort zone, natural abilities, and personal experience. When He leads you in a way so countercultural that it seems absurd, will you have the faith to step up in obedience like the biblical heroes of old?

Through four decades of ministry experience, Dr. Tom Kinnan has experienced his share of unexpected commands from God, who gave him a dream of a new church in the Kansas City area and then called him to be the founding pastor of Good Shepherd Community Church. Four years later, this successful church plant joyfully merged with another existing congregation to form BreakPointe Community Church in Overland Park, Kansas.

Currently, Dr. Kinnan serves as a life coach, a public speaker and motivator, and an interim pastor for churches in need. His experiences and his walk with the Lord enable him to bring insight and compassion to his teaching.

As you read this accessible yet challenging book, you will discover how to:

– Trust and go forward even when God asks the unthinkable of you

– Reconnect with the dreams God has placed in your heart

– Respond when it seems God has put you in an impossible situation

– Focus on Christ when you are surrounded by the storms of life

– Follow Jesus’ example of forgiving those who have wronged you

– And much more, including thought-provoking questions and action steps designed to enhance your devotional time, group study, and daily walk with God!

Before they were heroes, the men and women God called to do the unusual and incredible were ordinary, uncertain believers—but they were ultimately willing to listen and obey. When God Speaks: Exploring the Absurd and Outrageous Commands of God brings their stories to life with wisdom and practical application for all who seek to follow God.
