When the Lights Go Out

Moonbeam Children's Book Award Winner

Not every bump in the night is as frightening as it seems.

Looking for a funny Halloween bedtime story that's just the right amount of spooky?

WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT is a heartwarming Halloween picture book that invites children to see monsters in a completely different way.

When a storm sweeps through a small town on the eve of Halloween, a young boy fears the worst: monsters, witches, ghosts, zombies and more are coming to haunt him. But with each turning page, he learns that Halloween's usual suspects are far too busy with their own troubles to even think about haunting him.

With its zany humor, vibrant illustrations, and heartwarming narrative, Moonbeam Award-winning WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT is an enchanting read for any time of the year, but especially on a stormy night. A delightful Halloween read-aloud for families, classrooms, and anyone who loves a little spooky fun. Beneath the laughs is a gentle reminder that first impressions aren't always as frightening as they seem.

Punk-pop and horror enthusiast Eduardo Lecuona met filmmaker and father Nick Garnham Wright many moons ago at film school. Born six hours and two thousand miles apart, the pair quickly bonded over their shared interests in music, art, and literature. Combining Eduardo's creepy crawly creative vision with Nick's passion for poetry and his uniquely charming illustrations, When the Lights Go Out marks their first publication.
