When I Need Your Help, I’ll Let You Know, and Other Senior Myths That Can Lead to Disaster provides a clear-eyed look at the challenges facing seniors and their caregivers in planning for the future.
After enjoying a lifetime of independence, no one wants to contemplate needing help. “When I Need Your Help, I’ll Let You Know” encourages healthy seniors and their families to think through the consequences of their residential and healthcare decisions and arms them with the knowledge they need to proactively build a safe and stable care plan.
Co-written by Barbara Adler West J.D., a practicing elder law attorney, and her father, Steven F. Adler, Ph.D., this book is a practical guide to:
- The reasons why seniors are reluctant to relocate
- What it takes to safely “age in place”
- How to create a care plan focused on safety
- Why seniors should have a professionally prepared estate plan—Will, Trust and advance directives
- Why a trustworthy person should be engaged to help manage the senior's assets
Barbara Adler West, J.D. has worked as an estate planning and elder attorney in the Seattle area since 1997. She graduated from The University of Connecticut with a B.A. in English in 1979, then moved to Seattle in 1982 and earned a law degree from Seattle University in 1989.
Stephen Adler left Nazi Germany in 1939 at age 8 and later emigrated with his parents and brother to Chicago. In 1951, Steve married his high school sweetheart, Judy Weinberg. He completed his schooling and earned a PhD degree in Chemistry at Northwestern University in 1954. Steve and Judy moved to Connecticut where he began a career in industrial chemical research and they raised two daughters.
