When Getting Out of Bed is the Hardest Part: Reflections on Trauma, Recovery, and the Days your Barely get through

by T.L. Everheart

Some books try to fix you.

This one understands you.

When Getting Out of Bed Is the Hardest Part is a grounded, honest exploration of what it's like to live inside grief, trauma, depression, and emotional exhaustion-especially when life expects you to keep functioning anyway.

Written by a retired paramedic and mental-health professional, this book blends lived experience with clear psychological insight, without clinical jargon or false positivity. It speaks to the quiet realities people rarely say out loud: emotional numbness, survival mode, avoidance disguised as productivity, and the slow realization that "pushing through" eventually stops working.

This is not a step-by-step recovery manual. It's a companion for readers who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or worn down, and want language for what they're experiencing without being told to think differently, be grateful, or try harder.

For readers navigating loss, burnout, early recovery, or long-term survival fatigue, this book offers validation, perspective, and permission to start where they are.
